MOA vs. MOD
While closely related, MOA and MOD animations tell two different parts of that story. A mechanism of disease animation (MOD) explores the biology behind a disease, what is happening within the body, how normal processes are disrupted, and how those changes contribute to disease progression.
A mechanism of action animation (MOA) shifts the focus to the therapy, showing how a drug or treatment interacts with its target and the biological events that follow. Together, they can create a powerful narrative: here is the problem, here is the science behind it, and here is where the therapy fits.
The same science doesn’t necessarily need the same story. For HCPs, animation can reveal mechanisms and relationships that are difficult to communicate with words, diagrams, or static imagery alone. Molecular interactions, signaling pathways, cellular processes, and changes within anatomy can be placed into context and understood as a continuous sequence of events. For patients, animation can make an intimidating subject more approachable. We can simplify the visual language, adjust the level of scientific detail, and focus on the concepts patients need to understand—without losing the integrity of the underlying science.
And for sales and marketing teams, a strong MOA or MOD creates something equally valuable: a consistent story.
